Life is never easy for rogues, whose trade so often flies in the face of local law and custom, and can leave them shunned by all they meet. In time, however, those who can survive long enough to gain a measure of success become Thieves, true professionals and masters of their craft. Success brings them not only wealth but finally a kind of status. True Thieves no longer live off of the wealth they steal - they take contracts from wealthy patrons to steal, and are paid handsomely for their services.

Overview

The Thief is the purest of rogue: seeking wealth and power by any means necessary. This unscrupulous opportunist is keen at stealig gold and goods right from the pockets and bags of hard-working individuals wherever they please. The Thief often finds himself at odds with his natural enemy, the Scout, and other disciplines trained to see under the shadows. A brazen thief may choose to simply kill his mark instead if their efforts turn his preferred trade into a chore.

Playstyle Tips
  • Unlike a Scout or an Assassin, a Thief may prefer never to be seen at all. A good one is ever-prepared however, and well-equipped to escape with their Running skill, Retreat, and Indomitable Will to break snares and roots.
  • As the only rogue with access to the Parry skill, Thieves are capable of going toe-to-toe with other weapon users, if need be.
  • Use Passwall to reach places that others do not expect, such as inside a player city's walls. Your mark's assumption of safety may yield fine rewards.
  • Toss a vial of Coughing Gas immediately upon being discovered to increase your chance of escape.
  • The Crippling Blow, which a Thief can refresh indefinitely on a single target, is a death sentence for any character that relies solely defense to mitigate damage.
  • Nephilim and those with the Saboteur discipline can hide from player tracking. Most often, an empty track is enough to keep others from bothering to search for you.
  • When going on a risky venture, consider hiring another player to Summon you in the event that things go sour. A timely summon can protect your pilfered loot.
