Through the long history of Aerynth, the Children of the Gods have ever been loath to worship the Dark Lords of the Pit. The Archmages of the Deathless Empire learned their ways and names in the Age of Dawn before Time's beginning, but offered them pacts and bargains instead of worship. It was not until the Hordes walked upon Aerynth in the War of the Scourge that the Dark Lords won their first mortal converts. Some turned to Chaos to bargain for their survival, others were driven mad by horror or despair. In a time when many felt the Gods of Aerynth had failed them, the Dark Lords' call was irresistible. By the war's end, cults of Chaos had sprung up, each centered around a prophet, a Doomsayer who strove to bring Kolaur's curse upon the All-Father's children. As hideous as the Hordes of Chaos were in battle, time and again the Grand Alliance found its efforts hampered by traitors within their own ranks, devotees of Chaos who received their orders through the mouths of Doomsayers.

Overview
The Doomsayer is capable of sowing discord into any battle. His connection with mayhem allows him to strip enemies of their magic enhancements, fetter their mental fortitude, and drain the very essence from their corporeal forms. The Doomsayer's incantations can also strike one blind from madness or sap his enemy's very will to defend himself. His affinity with the Pit of Chaos is so great that he can share his visions of bedlam with his allies to enhance their powers.

Playstyle Tips

The Doomsayer is arguably the single most dangerous character on the field, thus he must always be on the move. He is usually the very first target, even before an Assassin, Bard, or Priest! And for good reason. The ability to devour another character's mana pool or cast unique debuffs on choice support characters can spell ruin. A Doomsayer must learn a careful dance of surviability and assault to be successful.

Healer

  • The Doomsayer class heals are simply not worth training. It is highly recommended to supplement the healing from drain spells with Blessed Mending and Blessed Healing.
  • There are many ways to build a character, but it is objectively wrong to not use a shield with a Healer Doomsayer! The shield is the main reason to choose the healer Doomsayer over the mage.
  • You can maintain Vengeance of the Pit (VotP) on up to two others. It may be tempting to offset your rather unimpressive Offensive Stance by using VotP on yourself, but a primary healer can make far better use of it, affording you more opportunities to focus on your primary role.

Mage

  • My choosing the mage base class, a Doomsayer is eschewing passive defense for some of the highest sustain in the game. It is imperative that once you become the target in a battle that you do not stop moving until you are out of harm's way. Don't think as though you are not contributing to the fight, as you are much more valuable to your team alive than dead!
  • With Offensive Stance and Vengeance of the Pit, you can devour the mana of most players within moments. Don't compromise your safety to do so, but if you can destroy the mana of an enemy healer, this alone can clinch a victory.
  • Keeping yourself stun immune via prestunning is vital! If a Doomsayer is stunned, and it is not immediately dispelled, death is almost certain.
