Prelates represent the warm communion of the Church of the All-Father throughout Aerynth. By invoking the names of revered saints and archons, they heal the injured and wash away fatigue. Though the Gods are quiet, the wicked still fear their names for the ire of the Prelates, who do not hesitate to deliver some apt retribution from on high.
The Prelate can both shore up the health of his allies and take the offensive. He is second only to Priest in his healing per second output and second only to Sentinels in his holy damage per second output. This allows groups compositions with them to be very robust. Holy is a very commonly resisted damage type in a fight, however, so his lack of a Holy expose debuff often hamstrings their offensive capabilities against a well-prepared enemy team.
- Condemnation gives Prelates the ability to stay Stun Immune like Mages but they are still extremely vulnerable to roots, snares, and powerblocks. Centaurs are very popular race of choice for their natural mitigation against snares and their kiting potential. Aelfborn likewise mitigate Prelate's vulnerability to Snares but their naturally low Spirit means those kinds of character sometimes have issues with mana management. Dwarf is probably the other popular alternative to Centaur due to their access to Toughness and extraordinarily high Constitution.
- Prelates should really only pick one class heal to train. For Centaurs, in kiting groups, or as support for a melee-focused group, it may be best to grab Touch of Saint Wend; however, against high damage per second groups or when playing with characters without much stamina management issues, Aid to the Injured has higher burst healing.
- An interesting way people have tried to mitigate Prelate's lack of defensive utility is by taking advantage of the high rank on their defensive stance and Divine Mantle. This really cuts into your power output though so due to the required stance-dancing to be effective it is a very niche approach.
