Gladiators quickly learn how to use any kind of weapon or armor, and know a wide variety of special moves and maneuvers designed to disarm, disable, or exhaust their opponents. The crowd must get its money's worth: Gladiators always try to prolong their fights rather than go for the quick kill. The bloodier the fight's end, the better.
