Overview: Aloof colleges of lore and magic, struggling to uncover lost secrets.
Narrative: Long before the rise of the Sons of Man, the ancient elves of the Deathless Empire were the first to discover the power of Lore and the ways of magic untold millennia ago. The great Elvish magi met in conclave and established a great university of the arcane arts, with libraries, workrooms, and vast laboratories. The original school has long since been destroyed, but the branches of the Conclave have endured, and magi join it seeking mastery to this day. The original Elvish masters have, over the ages, welcomed masters of other races into their ranks: regardless of the tide of history and animosity in the world outside, all within the Conclave set aside their differences in the pursuit of power and knowledge. Healers also come into the Conclave, walking the same paths of power as some magi. The directors of the Conclave hold firmly aloof from the transitory politics of the World, keeping the organization grounded in its studies. Many of the lesser members have much more worldly ambitions, however. |
