Buff Potions

Buff potions are items that may be purchased from an alchemist and provide a generous variety buffs that are alternatively available from some players. The purpose of buff potions is to make them more accessible, and to level the playing field for those players without access to buff bots. The buffs granted from buff potions are equal to player buffs that have been trained to 35, and do not least nearly as long. Therefore, there is still some advantage to using the original buffs.

Buff Bots

A buff bot is a character created only to provide it's buffs for other characters, and have no battle capability whatsoever. Buff bots are rarely played actively, and serve merely as a means to provide their services prior to battle.

Buff Bot Syndrome

In March of 2006, the development crew of Shadowbane addressed the issue that buff bots have become a required standard to stay at an equal level with other players <ref>The Buffbot Syndrome</ref>. At first, one of the biggest concerns was that this buff bot wasted one of an account's seven available character slots. Since Shadowbane has become free to play, this is no longer an issue. One of the results of this has been an expantion to the alchemy system, including the addition of buff potions.
