The forge is a type of player building that allows a city to craft and scrap weapons and armor.

Obtaining

A forge deed can be purchased from a Builder of any rank. The base cost is 500,000 gold. The basic type of forge is a Feudal Forge. However, special architecture is available in the theme of Elf, Irekei, and Northman from the appropriate builders found in the world.

Like most buildings, forges can be placed using the asset placement GUI which appears when its deed is double-clicked.

Hirelings

Craftsmen must be employed at a forge before it can be used. At rank one, a forge may only employ one hireling. As the forge becomes more advanced, it can eventually hold up to three.

You may choose which types of craftsmen appear in your forge by purchasing employment contracts from a Stewart. The types of craftsmen available are:

  • Axesmith (two-hand and one-hand axes)
  • Daggersmith (daggers and fist weapons)
  • Hammersmith (two-hand and one-hand hammers)
  • Swordsmith (two-hand and one-hand swords)
  • Spearsmith (spears and pole arms)
  • Projectile Craftsman (bows, crossbows, and throwing weapons)
  • Shieldsmith (Shields)
  • Helmsmith (many unique helmets)
  • Medium Armorer
  • Heavy Armorer
  • Light Armorer

Human hirelings are readily available, but are limited in end-game crafting ability. Rare and superior hirelings of other races can be found in the world as random drops.

Usage

Forges offer the player a unique GUI which allows them to create weapons or armor. The crafting time an quality depend on the forge and the hireling's rank. Certain items or enchantments are limited by your hireling's race.

Resource Crafting

If your warehouse has the necessary resources, you may order your hirelings to craft designer weapons or armor.

Random Crafting

Hirelings can be ordered to craft specific items with random magical enchantments. This is also called "random rolling" because it is a gamble: It offers the chance to produce useful magical items without the need for resources but costs at least 5,000 gold per roll.

Scraping/Junking

Forges may be used to sell items at cost, which will yield the player much more gold than selling to second party vendors. This is done by moving items from the inventory to the hireling's stock, and then choosing to junk the item from the hireling's menu.
