Rewen is a skilled Aracoix Scout in service of the mighty Aracoix Empire.

Interesting Facts about Rewen

  • has been playing Shadowbane since retail release
  • is probably the only Aracoix advocate left :(
  • Rewen's first character was a very gimp Aracoix Rogue Assassin, which he still keeps as a memento
  • Played on Fear, then Mourning, then the Test Server
  • plays primarily on the test server, but escapes to Vindication from time to time

I plan on sharing my knowledge as best I can in this wiki. If I make a mistake, don't harass me, just correct it! It is a wiki after all. As a hobby I help out in Wikipedia, so I know some basic editing stuff, but nothing complicated. If you have any tips, please post them in my talk page! Also if there is a page you would like to see added let me know.

General

  • Implemented contagious effects:
    • Contagious effects will be transfered to any player standing in a very small radius of the affected player
    • Contagious effects perform a hit-roll versus transferee's defense
  • Implemented the "Aggressive" status:
    • If a player has attacked or been attacked by a player, he or she will obtain the "Aggressive" status
    • While Aggressive, players may not delete gold, enter travel stance, or have their character logged out of the game
    • Aggressive status is denoted by an effect icon in the effects window
    • Aggressive status will last 30 seconds. The timer will be reset upon further events of player versus player combat
  • Fixed an issue that would cause powers to fail after running or flying: If a power is cast and does not complete casting trance due to server-client sync, the power will have it's recast timer reset
  • Weapon mastery runes are now available upon character selection and will no longer be found in the world (though the skills themselves do not become available until meeting weapon skill prerequisite)
  • Players may now slot three additional NPCs in a R7 or R8 Tree of Life. There is a limit of one Runemaster, but builders, stewarts, and bankers will also find their homes here
  • When a player has finished casting a power that will render them invisible, if other players can not see their level of stealth, their target will clear immediately
  • Flight will no longer pause between tiers, for example, pressing "fly up" three times immediately will elevate the character to the third fligt tier
  • Several weapons and armor sets have had their damage, speed, resistances, and defense values improved while requiring 100% skill for their use
  • Players will no longer continue to attack once a player has stealthed, and will no longer resume attacking as a result of DoT powers
  • A senechal NPC has taken refuge in Sea Dog's Rest. This NPC will break and combine stacks of resources for any player
  • Stamina recovery is no longer negated by flight or swimming, additional recovery rates will slow the drain of stamina
  • Vendors have read up on their class lore and will now only create appropriate focus skill enchantments for weapons
  • Effect icons will now display a number value corresponding with the power rank of the power they represent
  • Power cost mouse-over will now display accurate information when a player is buffed with a power cost modifier
  • Fixed an issue that caused powers to be blocked following a death but after death shroud had expired
  • Mana health and stamina will no longer stop regenerating naturally when players are casting a power
  • Players are no longer curious of what is at the bottom of the sea and will now swim on top of water
  • Grounding Shot now has a recast timer of 20 seconds and no longer dispells casted flight buffs
  • Discipline-based resistance buffs will now overwrite resistance buffs of any rank when re-cast
  • Parry chance has been greatly increased when fighting someone using the same type of weapon
  • Several glass weapons have had their procs adjusted so that players may find them useful
  • An exploit involving initiating attack on a recently translocated target has been fixed
  • The weapon enchantment prefix "Glass" as been modified to include -17% attack speed

City/Siege/Guild

  • Alchemists can now be ranked to R7, can create all variations of concoction potions, and now provide an automatic stock for all potions (like recall scrolls). R7 alchemists may now grant greater concoction buffs to the player for the price of a concoction potion (much in the same way boons are granted)
  • Added carbon-copy weapon prefixes and suffixes for "Legendary", "Warlords", "of Alacrity", and "of Slaughter" in order to make weapon random crafting less tedious
  • Azure Star Foot Ointment, Fillig's Milk of Mandrake, and Essence of Litharge have been removed from the world
  • Vendors can now be asked to automatically set prices for random rolled items using the production feature
  • All variations racial stewards are now available as random item drops and are extremely rare!
  • Several additional damage-type debuff siege spires have been added to the Builder's stock
  • Fixed a bug that caused Elven guard captains to appear to lose a rank when defeated
  • Aracoix vendors are now available in the world, and can be found on Aracoix mobiles
  • Warrants now display the name and guild of the crest they hold on their mouse over
  • Helmsmiths have been provisioned to repair all items capable of receiving damage
  • Fixed several issues with guards not showing up to their posts
  • Added more variations of "Truewoven" armor enchantments

Mage

  • Mages are now granted 10 free points in the Warding focus line
  • Mage defensive stance now provides additional mana recovery
  • Reflection has been rescaled to last 10 minutes at power rank 40

Healer

  • Contagion is now granted at GM and its damage has been modified to 8-20 points of damage
  • Contagion is no longer a DoT, but includes a contagious effect that will infect surrounding mobs
  • Healers are now granted 10 free points in the Benediction focus line
  • Healer defensive stance now provides additional mana recovery
  • Group buffs are now automatically grand mastered when the single-target versions are
  • Succor has had its power description changed.

Fighter

  • Fighters are now granted a power called "Stand Your Ground" at level 10 that prevents player from passing through them while reducing defense by 60 percent and resistance to power damages by 20. This power will be canceled if the player casts a power or attempts to move. Stand Your Ground is considered aggressive and may not be used in peace zones.

Assassin

  • Anthem of Avoidance has been updated to dissolve after 1100 points of absorbed damage
  • Baleful Battlehym will now stack with priest and potion enchantments and has been rescaled to increase defense by 100 at power rank 40

Channeler

  • Healer channelers have had their offensive and precise stances increased to power rank 20
  • Flame Blades now have a skill requirement of 20 in the sword focus line
  • Stone Maces now have a skill requirement of 20 in the hammer focus line
  • Mantle of Stone now includes an +5 resistance to all physical damage types

Doomsayer

  • Chaos Staves now have a skill requirement of 20 in the staff focus line

  • Vengeance of the Pit has had its recast time increased to five minutes (the duration of the spell's effect)
  • Corrupt the Flesh has been modified to have a casting time of 0.2 seconds and a recycle time of 10 seconds
  • Halgannon's Armor has been updated to dissolve after 1100 points of absorbed damage

Druid

  • Druids have been granted the ability to wear medium armor at level 10
  • Removed "Oaken Flesh" from available druid powers

  • Dread Whispers, Gnawing Fear, Spirit Chains, Dread Howl, Oblivion's Touch, Oblivion's Tide, and Phantasmagoria are now granted at 40 (Grandmaster)
  • Mantle of Corpseflesh has been updated to dissolve after 1100 points of absorbed damage
  • Channel the Void will now auto-GM in the event that Embrace the Void is trained to 40 (Grandmaster)
  • Sepulchre's Bounty is now a single pet target power and is no longer an area of effect
  • Necromancers have been given 20 free trains in the power Harvest of Bones
  • Harvest of Dust now GMs in 10 trains
  • Reduced the cost of "Harvest of Bones" from 320 to 100 at power rank 40 (Grandmaster)
  • Reduced the cost of "Harvest of Dust" from 160 to 100 at power rank 40 (Grandmaster)

Nightstalker

  • Litany of Discretion and Litany of Caution have been placed in line with other debuffs and had their effect icons changed to violet instead of green.

Prelate

  • Prelate offensive stance has been rebalanced to power rank 35
  • Divine Mantle now includes an +5 resistance to all physical damage types
  • Smite the Dead and Invocation of Saint Nemmorane are now granted at power rank 40 (Grandmaster)
  • Saint Lorne's Ire's recast timer has been reduced to 10 seconds
  • Saint Victor's Vigor's recast timer has been scaled; the power's recast timer will increase with training and starts out at 20 seconds.
  • Divine Resurrection has been removed
  • Saint Alaric's Benediction will will now auto-GM in the event that Saint Alaric's Blessing is trained to 40
  • Prelates have been given a new power called Vanquish the Darkness that is a group unholy resistance buff and will auto-GM in the event that Withstand the Darkness is trained to 40
  • Prelates have been granted a new power called "Grasp of the All-Father" which is a root, a carbon copy of the Priest power of the same name

Priest

  • Priests have been trained in the ways of the stick, and are now granted Staff and Staff Mastery powers at power rank 35
  • Additionally, Hammer, Hammer Mastery and Great Hammer mastery powers have been increased to 25
  • A Priest-only staff called "Saint's Staff" has been added that uses Theugry as its mastery
  • Holy Righteousness now includes an attack speed component
  • Work Holy Miracle has been removed
  • Sacred Bonds, Calming Touch, Calming Word, and Divine Word are now granted at power rank 40 (Grandmaster)

Ranger

  • Rangers are now granted the Archery focus at level 20
  • Charm Beast and Beast Lord's Boon are now granted at power rank 40 (Grandmaster)

Scout

  • Detect hidden has had its recast timer increased to 60 seconds to match its duration
  • Scout bow and archery powers have been balanced to power rank 30
  • Scout dagger and dagger mastery powers have been balanced to 30

Sentinel

  • Word of Binding has been removed
  • Exalted Word of Binding's mana drain component now requires a hit roll versus its targets' defense
  • Sentinels have been given a two-handed version of their hammer
  • Blessed Word of Binding has been modified, in addition to dexterity, to include a strength debuff of the same value
  • Litany of Hedrusiel has been balanced to grant 30 strength and 50% stamina recovery at power rank 40
  • Sentinels have been granted a new power called "Faithful Word of Binding" which is an area of effect mana recovery and health recovery debuff chant

Templar

  • Wings of the Seraphim now costs less to train

Thief

  • Thieves have been given a new power called "Appraisal" which will identify items
  • Peek and Steal have had their success formulas rescaled to 100% at power rank 40
  • Poison system backstabs now share a recast timer with Backstab

Warlock

  • A hood has been added to the Psion cloth sets

Warrior

  • Warriors now receive power rank 40 for all weapon powers across the board
  • Hold Fast has had its root component changed to a 30% movement rate debuff and is now granted at power rank 40 (Grandmaster)

Wizard

  • New Wizard-only cloth robes have been added
  • Cloak of Transparancy is now available at level 40 insead of 50
  • Cloak of Transparancy's Wizardry requrement has been reduced to 80

Discipline

Animator

  • Imbue Golem has been modified to only affect the Animator pet
  • Imbue Golem is now a pet attack rating, damage, and attack speed buff
  • Craft Golem may be trained to 40 trains
  • Craft Golem has been modified to scale from a level 30 pet at one train to a level 55 pet at 40 trains

Archer

  • Rangers are now forbidden from using the archer discipline

Archmage

  • Litany of Will has been flagged as a skill and may now be cast in stealth
  • Chant of Mastery has been flagged as a skill and may now be cast in stealth

Artillerist

  • Batten Down and Leaden Rig now work properly

Blade Weaver

  • Tlanarion short swords have had their weight reduced to 1
  • Tlanarion long swords have had their damage increased by 1 maximum and 1 minimum

Black Mask

  • Poison system backstabs now share a recast timer with Backstab

Blood Horn

  • Blood Luck may now be trained to 40 trains but has a 10 second recast timer

Blood Prophet

  • Soothe The Flames is now granted at 40 trains and its range has been increased to 120 units

Commander

  • Leadership will now grant bonus expierence to all party members in range when the commander is the group leader

Conjurer

  • Dark Lord's Boon has been modified to only affect the Conjurer pe
  • Dark Lord's Boon is now a pet attack rating, damage, and attack speed buff
  • Call of the Dark Lords may be trained to 40 trains
  • Call of the Dark Lords has been modified to scale from a level 30 pet at one train to a level 55 pet at 40 trains

Darksworn

  • Those who apply Dark Sword may no longer apply Sanctifier or Commander
  • Blight of Chaos has been removed
  • Corrupt the Body has been rescaled to add 40% healing resistance at power rank 20 and has a recast timer of 15 seconds
  • Corrupt the Mind now reduces mana recovery by 100% for its duration
  • Darksworn are now granted a power called Arms of Augrilloth which is a single target health drain over time, draining base 5 to 20 health (From levels 0 to 20), and lasting 30 seconds (7 ticks)
  • Darksworn are now granted a personal buff called "Ekk’linizer's Boon", which increases power damage by 15% and adds 15 healing resistance at power rank 20

Enchanter

  • Infuse With Power has had its functionality restored (really, this time)
  • Infuse With Power will now grant +5 to each stat per enchantment
  • The effects of Infuse with Power will end in the event that the item is placed into a trade window or the caster dies

Forge Master

  • Forge Masters have been granted a new power called "Mend Weapon" which will repair weapons or shields to full durability.
  • Forge Masters have been granted a new power called "Mend Armor" which will repair armor pieces or jewelry to full durability.

Huntsman

  • Hunting Hound may be trained to 40 trains
  • Hunting Hound has been modified to scale from a level 30 pet at one train to a level 55 pet at 40 trains

Knight

  • Nobile Inspiration has been rescaled to grant 40 to spirit at power rank 20
  • Knights have been granted a new skill called "Reverence of Virtue" which is a personal immunity to blind which lasts 30 seconds and has a recast timer of 2 minutes at 20 trains

Rat Catcher

  • Call of the Sewers may be trained to 40 trains
  • Call of the Sewers has been modified to scale from a level 30 pet at one train to a level 55 pet at 40 trains
  • Slay Rat will now affect anyone that has applied the Wererat discipline

Sanctifier

  • Sanctifiers may no longer apply Dark Sworn
  • Sanctify the Fallen will now check if the target is in group before attempting to cast
  • Sanctify the Fallen is now granted at 20 trains

Savant

  • Strength of the Many now includes an initial tick
  • Application of the Savant rune will grant 10 to maximum intelligence
  • The Stare now has a cast time of .02 seconds

Shroudborne

  • The Ebon Binding is now granted at power rank 40 and its range has been increased to 120 units

Skydancer

  • Will of the Sky Dancer and Talon Dance have been flagged as skills and will no longer inturrupt stealth or travel stance

Storm Lord

  • Storm Lords have been granted a new power called "Touch of Heromund" which is a temporary weapon enchantment (proc) using lightning damage

Strigoi

  • A Taste for Dead Flesh now has a proper power cameo
  • Feral Fury's effect icon has been brough in-line with other buffs had is now green instead of violet

Summoner

  • All Summoner Pets may be trained to 40 trains
  • All Summoner Pets have been modified to scale from a level 30 pet at one train to a level 55 pet at 40 trains
  • Strengthen Beast has been modified to only affect the Summoner pets
  • Strengthen Beast is now a pet attack rating, damage, and attack speed buff
  • Summoners have been granted a pet-only single target heal that is granted at power level 1 at level 20

Undead Hunter

  • Cure Death's Touch has had its recast timer reduced to 10 seconds

Valkyr

  • Lashava's Frenzy will now stack with other attack speed buffs, however now only lasts 20 seconds and has a recast timer of five minutes

Wyrmslayer

  • Hunt Wyrm has been removed
  • Wyrmslaters are now granted an NPC track

Rewen's Guide to Pilfering

My skills in Shadowbane shine when I play my scout, and ever since I made my first one I have never felt that my main was anything but. It wasn't until a mentor of mine gave me some very intelligent words that I ventured into the world of the thief. He said "you know, Rewen, a good scout makes an excellant thief". It made a lot of sense. As a thief, you learn quickly how to make yourself subtle to those you intend to exploit, but the one class that you really have watch out for are the scouts, because, from the ground up, their purpose is to take away your most powerful weapon: stealth. Being a scout, you know all the tricks and all the little details you can use to your advantage to sniff out and reveal, cripple, or even kill other stealthers. That said, I would reccomend becoming a veteran scout to anyone who would want to be a good thief.

I should say this: thieves are called thieves because they were built to steal things. A lot of people are so concerned with simply killing that they don't even train peek or steal to GM. They're insane. I am not saying that thieves can't kill anything, but like a scout, it's not their primary function. Think of it like an open ended mission where the objective is simply to take advantage of a player or group of players in every way possible. This can include stealing from them, hitting them with bleeds and then hiding again to piss them off, or killing them if the situation calls for it.

Your Template

I must say I am very biased in race selection, but I find the most versitile race for thieves in an Aracoix. You can no longer loot from the sky (those were the days), but flight is still a survival tool I couldn't do without. Of course you can choose whatever race you want though, it's not going to prevent you from getting a lot of loot.
