Prestige Class PvP contributions can be broken down into five roles: Control, Damage, Utility, Healing, and Survival.

Control

The ability to modify the arena of battle to your favor using a combination buffs and debuffs. Characters with a high control score can prime the enemy for defeat by softening their defenses or by reacting to their tactics with choice resistance buffs or counters.

Damage

The ability to deal high health point damage via spells and weapons. Damage can be further broken down into spiked damage, which is hard to predict and thus hard to efficiently heal, and sustained damage, which is a higher net damage that is more predictable.

Utility

Utility involves using unique skills not directly involved with combat, but none-the-less important. Some examples of utility are revealing stealth characters, tracking, removing death shroud, and summoning.

Healing

The opposite of damage, healing is restoring hit points that have been lost in battle. This includes topping off characters who take chip damage as well as swiftly sustaining life on an ally who has been focused on.

Survival

Survival includes all manner self-preservation tactics such as self-only healing, personal movement speed buffs, personal debuff removal, and invisibility.
