A recall scroll

A Recall Scroll or just recall is an item in the Shadowbane world which when activated, will allow it's caster to be transported to where they are bound, usually their Tree of Life. Recall Scrolls are available at any Sage in the world, and in three different quantity options:

  • Basic Recall Scroll, provides one trip home. Item will vanish when used.
  • Bundled Scrolls of Recall, a pack of five recalls. Item will vanish after five uses.
  • Tome of Recall, a book of twenty recalls. Item will vanish after twenty uses.

Activation

As with any item, one may activate their scroll of recall in a few different ways:

  • Double-clicking the item in their inventory
  • Having the item selected and pressing the "utilize" hotkey, (defult u)
  • Clicking on it's cameo in the hotbar, provided it has been established there

Cast Warning

As recalling is an efficient method of escape, the recall scroll will delay for seven seconds before the point at which you are transported, or no longer where you were before. During this delay, the user is encompassed by a bright, expanding, and very noticeable particle sphere to warn others of his or her action, so they might have a chance to react.

As a Power

All mage-based characters have access to a spell version of the recall scroll called Astral Tether at level twenty (prerequisite 60 Sorcery). When activated, Astral Tether will act in exactly the same way as a recall scroll. A character may only use this power once every five minutes.

Techniques

Errant Recall

Errant recall is a technique used primarily with the activation of a new server. The premise for this technique is the fact that one who is errant, (without a binding point), when recalling, will be transported to one of the many ruins placed throughout the map at random in an effort to gain footing towards a specific place without having to run. To perform an errant recall, simply be errant and continually use a recall until you have reached the desired ruins on the map.

Stealth Recall

Stealth recall is a technique used by anyone who has the hide power. With standard recalling, you are transported to your bind point without a safe mode, therefore you leave yourself open to ambush during the loading tunnel. Stealth recall is a method for avoiding this; to perform it, simply cast the hide power immediately following the activation of a recall scroll. This technique can also be used to avoid the cast warning. It is recommended that the user have highly-trained or grand mastered level hide to perform this technique successfully.
