In Shadowbane, there are a few text commands players may utilize to change the way the game works. This is a collection of known commands.

Simple Commands

  • /guildinvite [player's first name] will invite an errant character to your guild provided you are a full member.
  • /invite [player's first name] will create a new group and invite a new player to a group (provided you are group leader).
  • /who will activate the who list, a player search feature. The who list may also be activated with default hotkey "W".
  • /ignore [player's first name] will add the player to your ignore list and you will not receive messages from them, but they will still see you as online in the who list.

Combat Range

Combat range will display a bubble around the target and the user. The bubble's size represents the attack range of the avatar it surrounds. For example, an unarmed user may have a small bubble, while a bow or crossbow user may have a very large one. The bubble will not follow its target.

  • To activate the bubbles, type "/showcombat".
  • To deactivate the bubbles, type "/showcombat off".

Pathfinding

By default, when a player clicks to move, if there is something in the way, he or she will stop in front of it. Pathfinding is a feature available to players that will intelligently plot a course around non-passable objects when instructed to traverse any terrain that has obstructions. Disadvantages to the pathfinding system are that there is a short lag between when a player clicks to move and when actual movement takes place. Another disadvantage is that, when attempting to fly on or around walls, players with pathfinding activated may find difficulty getting on or off of a wall. Pathfinding is generally for travel across heavily wooded areas where a lot of switching directions may be a hassle.

  • To activate pathfinding, type "/path on".
  • To deactivate the pathfinding, type "/path off"

Text Colors

Players may color their text by use of commands. The colors are determined by a 9-digit string of numbers. Alternate numbers result in different colors. The best results come from using the number "223" among zeros.

First, type the channel code you would like to use, for example, "/n" for nation chat. Following this, type "^\c" (carat, backslash, letter c), and then your 9-digit string of numbers. Next, type the same exact code a second time. Your results should look something like this:

/n^\c223000000^\c223000000 Hello World!

The above example will display the words "Hello World!" in red in receiving players' text boxes, regardless of what color they have set their nation chat to display. Here are some additional colors to get you started. Expiriment to find more colors:

  • 223000000 - Red
  • 022300000 - Green
  • 002230000 - Light Green

Performance Monitor

The performance monitor is designed to monitor framerates in Shadowbane, and adjust display settings to reduce lag and slow loading. Performance monifor will turn off features as framerate drops and re-activate them as framerate is restored.

  • To activate performance monitor, type "/perfmon on".
  • To deactivate the performance monitor, type "/perfmon off"
