Character Creator is an excel-based spreadsheet created by Chimpy that allows players to simulate the creation of a character in order to calculate end-game point expense correctly. By doing this players are able to maximize their characters without having to do any of the mathematical calculations themselves.
About
"This builder is based on the simple knowledge that creating a character in Shadowbane follows rather consistant rules. After the character is built (post-creation screen), the rules become more abstract. As it stands I have this builder solving the Shadowbane Character Creation screen. What I mean is, you can pick your starting traits and see them at 75. As I have already stated, the formulas for skills, health and mana are more complex and NOT yet apart of this builder. This does not mean they wont be, but for now I have nto worked them out to above 85% consistancy."

How to Use
- Select a race by placing a "1" in the cell that is located to the direct right of the race you want. Selecting more then one race will result in "Error 4" to the right of "Race." Notice that some races cost more creation points then others.
- Selecting a race will adjust the base and level 75 stats in different cells
- Select a base class by placing a "1" in the cell that is between the base classes and the cell group labelled "available." Pay attention to the information under "available," as not all races can be all classes! The availablity will change depending on the race selected.
- Add/Subtract Creation Points. Place the amount of points that you wish to either add or subtract from the stated base vales. No more then 5 points can be subtracted from any one area. The maimum that can be added to a stat is depicted by the number of creation points you have remaining. Any violations of the rules will be reported as an error. As always place the numbers in the cells directly to the right of the stats.
- Trait rune selection. These runes are available to add onto characters. Basic descriptions are next to each rune. If their is a number under the "cost" column, then the rune is available for your character. If the column states "closed," either you do not meet the requirements for the rune or your race/class selection makes your character ineligible. The description will contain basic information about how to take the runes. These runes subtract from your remaining creation points. if you are at 0 points you cannot take more runes! To select a rune, place a "1" in the cell to the right of the desired rune under the column "use." Unused points are automatically carried over to your ingame stat pool.
- By now your character will have a basic stat point layout. Placing a number in this column that shares the same row as a stat point will increase your characters stats. The column "points needed to max" simply reports how many more points you can invest in a character's stat before you reach the cap. "Stat points Remaining" simply informs you how many stat points you have left total. Add as many or as few points as you want.
- Under step 6 you will notice that there are ingame stat runes. Placing a "1" next to any of the runes will increase your min/max stats and also increase your "points needed to max value." The usage points are automatically taken from you "Remaining Stat Points" pool. You need only select the highest rune you are going to take!
- Once your character is completed, the ending stat point layout will be displayed under the title "Level 75 Stats" which is located nex to Step 2. To save your layout use "save as" or you have to manually delete all of the values everytime you want to use the creator.
- Focus, Disc, and other tabs are still under construction and do not work with 100% certainty! You are welcome to test them out.
Here is a brief description of each:
- Focus: this tab is going to be used in conjunction with your level 75 stats to estimate (based on training points)what your skill table will look like. Its still in alpha.
- Disc: This tab will withdraw training points from your begining values listed on the focus page. Place the number of trains invested into the columns to the right of the skills.
- Bard_Test: This page lists bard skills and can be used to estimate training points needed for spells.
